The ESR 2025 Mentoring Session with Darko Šimičić will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, at 2 pm CEST. The invitation will arrive via email and is open only to those who applied to the ESR in 2025.
🎤 Darko Šimičić, art critic and curator
Darko Šimičić is an art critic and curator based in Zagreb. His archival work centres on the Tomislav Gotovac Institute and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Zagreb.
The 90-minute session brings together the ten ESR 2025 residents, currently in residence in Budapest, Dubrovnik and Lidice. In the first part, Darko Šimičić will speak about Solidarity in Art in the Croatian and Ex-Yugoslav Context (1960s–70s). He will examine how artists and cultural workers organised collective responses to catastrophe and war, focusing on the artistic mobilisation after the 1963 Skopje earthquake and the post-war Sarajevo scene. Everyone who applied to ESR 2025 is invited to join. The second part is a closed conversation between Darko and the ESR 2025 residents.
