ESR Commons Talk I.: “Community-Commissioned Art Around the World” with Daniel Valtueña
The ESR 2025 Mentoring Session with Daniel Valtueña will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at 2 pm CEST. The invitation will arrive via email and is open only to those who applied to the ESR in 2025.
🎤 Daniel Valtueña, independent arts and culture consultant
Daniel Valtueña is an independent arts and culture consultant who works on community-commissioned art. He has worked with the Artist Commissioning Program at Queens Council on the Arts in the United States, the DemArt Project in Hungary, Poland and Latvia, and Concomitentes in Spain. He mentors ESR residents with Pro Progressione in Budapest.
The 90-minute session brings together the ten ESR 2025 residents, currently in residence in Budapest, Dubrovnik and Lidice. In the first part, Daniel Valtueña will speak about Community-Commissioned Art Around the World. He draws on his work across these programmes to show how communities can lead art commissioning, take power away from traditional gatekeepers, and build more inclusive, collaborative projects. Everyone who applied to ESR 2025 is invited to join. The second part is a closed conversation between Daniel and the ESR 2025 residents.
🎤 Hosted by Miloslav Vorlíček (Head of Residencies, Lidice Art Collection – Lidice Memorial)
